The Yagua people, with a population of around 6,000, are an indigenous group living in Colombia and northeastern Peru. They have about 30 communities scattered throughout the Amazon basin in both countries. Their villages are mainly situated near the Amazon River and its tributaries, such as the Napo, Putumayo, and Yavari rivers. The Yagua language is part of the Peba-Yaguan language family. In the past, they had linguistic connections with the Peba and Yameo languages, but these languages are now extinct. The Yagua traditionally employ poisoned blow darts from pipes as their weapons.
