The Bora, an indigenous Amazonian tribe, have fiercely defended their land against local adversaries and external colonizers for many generations. The rubber boom and the Putumayo genocide brought intense suffering to the Bora through enslavement and violence, significantly diminishing their numbers. They converse in the Bora and Mirana languages, with a mere 2,000 speakers left. Traditionally, they depended on archery for hunting and defense. Today, they lead a sedentary lifestyle in permanent forest communities. During my visit, they showcased a traditional dance.
