In the December of 2018, I set off for Peru – this had been a long time ambition for me; something which had been on my bucket-list for many years. I flew via Mexico city, to Lima, with a short layover there. I arrived into Jorge Chávez international airport, in the mid-afternoon. Coming out of the Airport having been through, immigration and security, I was totally bewildered by the number of taxi that there were outside on my arrival. I made a deal with one of the waiting cab drivers, and we headed south to the Miraflores District, of Lima. This district is known to be the tourist destination of Lima – and i had a Air B&B, waiting for me. I got a whole apartment to myself. Once i settled in, I was keen to go out and experience this new world. Miraflores, is on the coast, with huge cliffs to the sea. I walked through the ornate parks that sat atop of these cliffs, and watched the sun set for the first time over the Pacific. There were huge crowds there ready to watch the sunset, which i discovered happens every evening; with the local inhabitants coming to catch the spectacle of the Sun descending into the ocean. There were paragliders up in the air, surfers on the waves, and many lovers, walking hand in hand – But when the sun set everyone stopped to observe its descent into the sea for the night.
